Stand Out From The Crowd . . . for ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

 Hi everyone!  Today I'd like to share a 12 x 12 mixed media art journal page that I made for ArtStacks. 

I made this page using ArtStacks' "All Dressed Up" pack: 

Here is  my completed page: 

I featured the images of the royal soldiers who are all dressed the same, except for one!!  I picked the quote from the "words and phrases" page from the same pack because (of course!) it's absolutely perfect for this image.  And if you look closely behind the soldiers, you can see paint splats, glitter, hearts, flowers and a tiny bird, just for fun!

Tears in Heaven . . . for ArtStacks!

 Hi everyone!  It's my turn to share my February art journal page made for ArtStacks  . . .

I really enjoy working with ArtStacks'  packs and love that they work so well together:  I used the following packs:

The black and white striped paper is from Deb Weiers' Wonky Backgrounds:  

 

The figure of the boy and the little sign are from All Dressed Up:

 

The boy's wings, the butterflies, and the stack of books that he's sitting on are from Wings & Things:

 The window frame was used from the Doors &Windows pack:

And here is my art journal page:  

I made my page featuring the figure of the boy from the All Dressed Up pack with his beautiful wings from the Wings and Things pack.  My quote is from Eric Clapton's song "Tears in Heaven." 

I seem to always go through a sad period at the beginning of every new year when I think about my beloved family members that have passed away.  I would have never guessed that family gatherings for holidays would be so small as I get older.  But I am comforted by my family and my faith, and know that spring will soon be here.  Working on pages such as these are very therapeutic for me, too!

Live Joyfully . . . for ArtStacks!

Hi everyone!  Today I'd like to share a mixed media art journal page that I made for ArtStacks. 

I made this page using ArtStacks' new releases:  the All Dressed Up and Wings and Things Corestacks.  I can't tell you how much I love working with these stacks!   You will find that they work so well together!

I made my page featuring this smiling boy wearing his red hat and wings. (He's also is wearing fun striped socks!) I picked the quote because he definitely is living joyfully!  For all of the details about how I made my project, please head over to the Artstacks blog.

My mythical boy is from a fairy tale that hasn't been told yet.  Here's his story:   The boy originally had many hardships to overcome because he tried to hide his beautiful, red wings.  But he eventually discovered that when he displayed them with pride and joy, everyone around him felt the same joy that he did!

Bewitched . . . for More Than Words!

Hi everyone! It's October 1st and time for a new challenge . . .

October's Main Challenge at More Than Words opened today:

For those of you who don't know, More Than Words is a monthly art journal challenge site that contains a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Here is October's Main Challenge:

The word inspiration for this month is STRANGE and the creative challenge is Get Inky. 

Here is my finished art journal spread:

When I think of October, I always think of Halloween!  I used pink,orange, and yellow INKS from my stash to make my background. The image of the woman and her black wings are from the ArtStacks "All Dressed Up" and "Wings and Things" stacks. I completed my page with a STRANGE and eerie quote!

Only You Can Find the Strength Within . . . for ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey (and a college reunion!)

Hi Everyone!

I just got back from my college reunion.  It's been 40 years since we graduated from East Stroudsburg University, which was East Stroudsburg State College when we we attended.  (Affectionately know as ESSC!)  Although we had different majors, we have all remained friends since then, and my sister and cousin are part of our crowd even though they graduated from Penn State University.  We spent a couple of days at Ocean City, New Jersey, enjoying the beach and boardwalk, but mostly we just enjoyed each others company.  I'd like to share a few photos:

Here is  my completed page.  I really like the way the 2 packs work so well together.

 

I have been struggling with some things at the moment, and this page was very therapeutic for me to make.  I've found that it's true -  only I can find the strength from within!!

My Playlist . . . for More Than Words!

Hi everyone! It's September 1st (can you believe it?!) and time for a new challenge . . .

September's Main Challenge at More Than Words opened today:

More Than Words is a monthly art journal challenge site that contains a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Here is September's Main Challenge:

The word inspiration for this month is PLAYLIST and the creative challenge is using EPHEMERA. 

Here is my finished art journal page:

I made my PLAYLIST about my favorite songs from my childhood up to the 80's. ("Strike a Pose" is a line from the song "Vogue" by Madonna!) I typed my playlist of on a tag and tucked it behind the image. I used some of my favorite EPHEMERA from my stash around the page. This was so fun to make!

I used the image of the child from one of the ArtStacks new releases, the "All Dressed Up" Corestack.  And his wings and crown were taken from the "Wings and Things" Corestack, too!
