Together for ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone, I’m so excited to share something new I created for the ArtStacks design team!

First of all, I used three of ArtStacks' beautiful Artist Series packs!

The first is by Tamara Laporte (@willowing):

And the next 2 are by Shana Bebelkis (@shanoukiart):

I loved creating this mixed media art journal page using these packs.

To learn more about how I made my page, head over to the ArtStacks blog!

I hope this has sparked some ideas for you to start your own project!

I am also very excited to link up my project at Art Journal Journey Monthly for February.

Bleubeard and Elizabeth from Altered Book Lover are hosting this month, and their theme is "Anywhere, Anytime, Any Place, with Anyone."

Elizabeth says:  "I have never read any Shakespeare, nor seen any of his plays, but I once heard someone say the reason his plays were so long was because he chose to use 10 words when one would have sufficed.  Therefore, in that same vein, Bleubeard and I give you this month's theme: Anywhere, Anytime, Any Place, with Anyone."

I absolutely love this month's theme!  Thank you, Bleubeard and Elizabeth!

I hope I have inspired you to check out Art Journal Journey Monthly. It’s not just a chance to contribute to this month’s challenge, but it’s also a great way to discover the incredible artwork submitted by talented artists from around the world.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.  Happy February!

Within You . . . for ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey Monthly

Hi everyone!  I am here today sharing a project that I created for ArtStacks.

I've made a mixed media art journal page using one of ArtStacks' newest 'Artist Series' releases by Tamara Laporte:

To see everything that is included in Tam's incredible packs, head over to ArtStacks!

Here is the art journal page that I made:

I couldn’t wait to get started once I received Tam’s packs. I eagerly started making an art journal page using a grid background.  The background squares were cut from Tam’s beautifully printed images in her "Magical Universe" pack. Next, I incorporated the images of the woman and child, also from the "Magical Universe" pack. I also added a tissue image of a butterfly taken from Tam's first pack entitled "Fabulous Faces." To enhance my project, I affixed what I believe is the perfect sentiment, also from the Magical Universe pack. Finally, I added ink splatters and paper swirls from my stash, and machine stitched the edges of my page.

I am also linking my page up to April's theme at  Art Journal Journey Monthly:

This month is being hosted by Neet (short for Anita) from Hickydorums.

Her theme for May is "It Must Have Wings."  She says . . . "this covers my love of Lavinia stamps and the fairies that the owner draws herself.  But the theme doesn't have to stop at fairies.  If you think about it, lots of things have wings - butterflies, dragonflies, ladybirds, and other insects.  Don't forget about birds and angels.  And what about building? - The White House has the West Wing, hospitals have wings, there are lots of wings when you think of it!"

As you can see, my art journal page has a butterfly, which is perfect for Neet's theme!

I highly recommend you check out AJJ this month. You won’t want to miss out on all the amazing artwork created by talented artists from all over the world!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.

Happy May!

You Will Find Your Way Home . . . for More Than Words!

Hi everyone!   It's July and time for some new challenges.

The July Challenge at More Than Words opened this month:

For those of you who don't know, More Than Words is an art journaling challenge blog with one main theme to inspire you each month.

Here is July's Challenge:

This month's theme is all about a MASH-UP. You can choose two or more themes from this year's challenges to inspire your pages.

Here are the January to June challenge themes:

  • January - Time
  • February - Love Letters
  • March - Home
  • April - Being Green
  • May - Celebrations
  • June - Art Supplies

And here's my art journal page:

My 12 x 12 mixed media page incorporates a MASH UP of four of our MTW themes as follows: the color GREEN, a CELEBRATION of owls, a quote about HOME, and my favorite ART SUPPLIES, which are ArtStacks packs.

The owl, (entitled "Swoop") created by Kimberly Kohr, and the "Poppies," created by Amber Bennison, are both from the new Gelatin Printing Enthusiasts "Art & Nature" pack:

And the quote is from Tamara Laporte's "Fabulous Faces" pack:

All are from ArtStacks!

I hope you can play along with us this month at More Than Words!

I am also linking my page up to July's Art Journal Journey Monthly challenge:

This month is hosted by Alison, whose blog is Craftytrogs Arty Adventures and her theme for July is "Come Fly With Me."

Alison says: "For this theme, you can use anything that flies.  Birds, Insects, fairies, aircraft, hot air balloons, etc,  can all be used on your pages.  I hope you have fun, and I'm looking forward to seeing your beautiful art!"

And as you can see, the centerpiece of my page is the owl, which can definitely fly!

I want to thank Alison and Art Journal Journey for this awesome challenge.

And thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.  Enjoy July!

I Love Stripes . . . for ArtStacks!

Hi everyone!  Today I'd like to share my new mixed media art journal page that I made for ArtStacks

I used ArtStacks'  Deb Weiers' Wonky Critters and Wonky Backgrounds Artist Series packs as the focal point of my page.  I can't tell you how much I love working with these and all of ArtStacks' packs.

Here is my art journal page:

I made my page featuring Deb Weiers' wonky zebra from the Wonky Critters pack! She has a whole page of these fabulous critters in her pack as follows:

And the background paper is Vicki Boutin's from her "Color Study" collection!!!

You can check out all of Deb Weiers' Artist Series packs at ArtStacks' in more detail here.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today.  Have a wonderful Holiday Season!  Here's wishing all of you joy and happiness throughout December!

Love It . . . for ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone!  Today I'd like to share my new mixed media art journal page that I made for ArtStacks

I used ArtStacks' new releases:  Deb Weiers' Wonky Critters and Wonky Bits Artist Series packs as the focal point of my page.  I can't tell you how much I love working with these packs.   I couldn't wait to start creating as soon as I received them!

Here is my art journal page:

I made my page featuring Deb Weiers' wonky pony from the Wonky Critters pack!  I also used lyrics from one of my favorite songs by Joni Mitchell - "Circle Game."  And the background paper is Vicki Boutin's!   You can check out the new releases in more detail here.

And I had Art Journal Journey Monthly in mind when I made my page.
This month
is hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth and there are 2 themes to pick from - collage fodder and/or food & drink.  I picked collage fodder.

My background is from Vicki Boutin's Color Study collection.  My pieces included torn black and white striped paper, images from the Wonky Critters and Wonky Bits packs, and song lyrics that were printed on white paper and cut into strips.  I collaged them together and stitched some into place.

Thanks so much, Art Journal Journey for the inspiration this month.

And thank you for stopping by my blog today.  Have a wonderful November!
