Within You . . . for ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey Monthly

Hi everyone!  I am here today sharing a project that I created for ArtStacks.

I've made a mixed media art journal page using one of ArtStacks' newest 'Artist Series' releases by Tamara Laporte:

To see everything that is included in Tam's incredible packs, head over to ArtStacks!

Here is the art journal page that I made:

I couldn’t wait to get started once I received Tam’s packs. I eagerly started making an art journal page using a grid background.  The background squares were cut from Tam’s beautifully printed images in her "Magical Universe" pack. Next, I incorporated the images of the woman and child, also from the "Magical Universe" pack. I also added a tissue image of a butterfly taken from Tam's first pack entitled "Fabulous Faces." To enhance my project, I affixed what I believe is the perfect sentiment, also from the Magical Universe pack. Finally, I added ink splatters and paper swirls from my stash, and machine stitched the edges of my page.

I am also linking my page up to April's theme at  Art Journal Journey Monthly:

This month is being hosted by Neet (short for Anita) from Hickydorums.

Her theme for May is "It Must Have Wings."  She says . . . "this covers my love of Lavinia stamps and the fairies that the owner draws herself.  But the theme doesn't have to stop at fairies.  If you think about it, lots of things have wings - butterflies, dragonflies, ladybirds, and other insects.  Don't forget about birds and angels.  And what about building? - The White House has the West Wing, hospitals have wings, there are lots of wings when you think of it!"

As you can see, my art journal page has a butterfly, which is perfect for Neet's theme!

I highly recommend you check out AJJ this month. You won’t want to miss out on all the amazing artwork created by talented artists from all over the world!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today.

Happy May!

  1. Hi Sharon, so nice to have another entry from you for my theme 'it must have wings' over at Art Journal Journey.
I really do like this one with the different coloured squares making up the background, it's the way the individual squares are not a solid colour but made up of several shades/tints of one colour. Love the stars and swirls too.
Your two figures remind me of those of Suzi Blu that I used to love some time ago and the tiny butterfly is so pretty. I must look up this pack you have used, I may have been tempted.
Thanks once again for joining me with your journal page at AJJ.
    Hugs, Neet xx
ps I have still never been confident enough to stitch a page - love the effect you got with yours.

  3. Even without the butterfly those fairies are adorable, and I can see why you were so excited to use this package. I think those fairies just have their wings folded up behind their backs. The colors and the grid are wonderful too. It does make me very happy to look at it. Thank you for joining AJJ and have a super weekend Sharon. hugs-Erika

  4. I love the different colored rectangles. They make the stars POP. This is SO colorful. The mother and child were adorable and the butterfly made it perfect for Neet's theme at AJJ. Another win for you, dear Sharon.
