Don't Waste a Minute . . . for ArtStacks and Art Journal Journey Month;y!

Hi everyone!  Today I'm sharing a project that I made for the ArtStacks Artist Team.  I am up on their blog today!

I created a mixed media scrapbook page using their newest releases:
The Doors & Windows 2 pack:

and Weathered Walls pack:

You can head to ArtStacks to see these beautiful packs in detail.

Here is my mixed media art journal/scrapbook page using these 2 packs:

I found this photo of  my daughter, Anne and me taken at the beach in 2017.  I remember that sunset vividly - it was so beautiful.  I started my page by using a 12 x 12 Vicki Boutin paper from her Print Shop collection.  Next I added images from the ArtStacks Doors & Windows 2 and Weathered Walls packs. My favorite part was making the 3-D awning (from the Doors & Windows 2 pack) and attaching it above my photo. My page also contains threads and lots of stitching!  I had lots of fun to creating this one.

And once again, I am happy to link my page to Art Journal Journey Monthly's theme for July:

This month is host is Halle at Halle's Hobbies..Her theme for July “I’ve Got a Notion.”

She says:  "My theme is a bit tongue in cheek and has a wide variety of interpretations.
I LOVE sewing and incorporating stitching and other traditional supplies into my artwork. You can add any sort of stitching (real or faux), buttons, lace, fabric, yo-yos, sewing pattern paper, snaps, hooks, measuring tape…you get the picture. Anything you might find in a sewing room."

I hope you get a chance to see the all entries from the amazing artists that take part in this challenge every month.  I am always blown away by their talent.  And I want to thank Halle (and Art Journal Journey) for hosting this fun challenge.

And thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.   Enjoy the rest of your July!

So Sweet . . . for Challenge YOUrself and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone.  It's hard to believe that it's July 7th already, but here it is.  I know I've said it before, but time seems to be flying by faster than ever this year. I know it's because I am getting older.  LOL!

It's time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrself:

Challenge YOUrself #127 opened today and closes on August 4th:

This month's challenge is to use stitching somewhere on your page.  It can be hand stitching or machine sewing, and add as little or as much as you like.  Please remember to include at least one photo with YOU in the frame on your project.

Here is the mixed media scrapbook page that I created for this challenge:

I used a photo of my twin sister and me taken in 1960 when we were 4 years old.  I absolutely love this photo - it's one of my favs.  I especially like our bangs - our grandmother always cut our hair!  I used lots of yellow bits from my stash, and my sewing machine in several places on my page.  I really enjoyed making this one!

I hope you get a chance to check out  Challenge YOUrself this month!  We would love to see YOUR projects.

I am also linking my page to Art Journal Journey Monthly's theme for July:

As you can see, I added machine stitching to my page a number of different places!

I hope you get a chance to check out the all entries from the talented artists that take part in this challenge every month.  And I want to thank Halle and Art Journal Journey for having this amazing challenge.

And thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.   Enjoy July!

Remember When . . . For Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone!  Today I am sharing a layout that I made for this month's Art Journal Journey challenge.
Their host this month is Halle from Halle's Hobbies.   She chose "A Stitch In Time" as this month's theme. She said:  "you can choose whether you want to include an element of stitching, of time, or get crazy and include both!"

I decided to use photos that were taken back in November of 2011.  I was invited to a dear friends house to sew - she and her dad are very good sewers . . . they have a wonderful sewing machine and also a serger!  With her help, I made an adorable Christmas dress for Anne - she loved it so much that she wore it almost every day that December!

Here are 2 of photos taken that day:

And here is a photo of Katie and Anne, who is wearing the dress:

I also found some very old "Cosmo Cricket" papers in my stash from 2009!!!  The line of paper was called "Material Girl"  and perfect for this page, I thought.

Here is my page:

And here are some close ups:

I had so much fun making this page.  I did a lot of fussy cutting, some sewing, and even found some old buttons to add to the flowers.  I would never had had the idea to make it if it weren't for Halle at Art Journal Journey.  Thank you, Halle and AJJ!

And thank you "sew" much for stopping by my blog today.  Have a wonderful Monday!

Hugs to one and all.
