The Summer of Color 5: Week 3!

I can't believe that we are into week THREE already of the Summer of Color this year.  Time is flying by and summer is in full bloom right now!  There is so much inspiration at the SOC's blog party and I encourage all of you to check it out!


This week's colors are purple + purple + yellow.  I found that I didn't have much purple in my stash at all.  I didn't even have any purple spritzes or inks.  Interesting.  So I made a trip to Hobby Lobby and purchased Ken Oliver's "Color Burst" in violet and Dylusions Ink spray in crushed grape.  I already had Lindy's Stamp Gang's "Yellow Rose of Texas" starburt ink spray on hand.  So I was ready!!

I did have both purple and yellow paper and ribbons in my stash as you can see above.

I used another amazing sketch from Sketchabilities.  Their blog is always filled with inspiration and gorgeous sketches!

I started with paper from Webster's Pages Beautiful collection entitled "Aged to Perfection" and went from there!!!  At first, I didn't like these colors together on my page, but they grew on me!!



And I want to leave you with a photo that I took of the flowers on our deck - they seem to go with this week's color scheme:

    I love your layout, Sharon! It's so fresh and bright just like summer! The phrase you used is perfect, too! I'm not participating this year. I really enjoyed being a part of SOC the past two years but this year I just can't seem to keep up with things. I don't know why! I hope you're enjoying summer because it arrived without much spring!

    Beautiful layout, both the colour scheme and sketch, Love your photo and quote. The continued swirls/circles gives depth and makes it look like a continuation of a path, very clever . Gorgeous layout and always love seeing your photo's

    Aaaaah! SOooooo much better seeing it here with some closies than on FB. Love checking out the little details! That bg 'sun' is still just as stunning....& the little scroll sticker or rub on? That looks fabulous. Love how you added texture with the materials too......I still think I'd find this colour combo REALLY hard to nail as you did!!! Love the garden flowers, too. Obv Mother Nature thinks it's a winning combo!!

    Oh my gosh Sharon, aren't those Ken Oliver's just the best! Don't laugh, but I bought every colour EXCEPT the purple LOL~!!!!! Thinking to myself at the time, I just would not use it!!!! HA! Anyway, so love your LO, that burst of purple behind (at a glance looked like a cloud at first) and the yellow swirl behind the photo!

    There is a wonderful burst of purple and yellow here, love the yellow whirl and all the purple accents, and of course, the photo of Anne, which you have so well incorporated in your art.

    It is hard enough to work with these colors with paint--I used beads--but you managed to take paper, ribbon, burlap and more to create another beautiful layout!

    This is incredibly beautiful, I'm completely out of words. (sitting with jaw hanging open)
    That circled texture is amazing and the colours are so rich. And the wonderful pale picture in the middle stands out even more due to the different shading. It's just... wow. (jaw still hanging open)

    The colors were challenging this week yet your layout is beautiful! I truly am captivated by the sewing combined with the yellow. And burlap is one of my favorite ways to incorporate texture!
