Forever Friends . . . for Challenge YOUrself and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone.!

It's April 7th time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrself!

Challenge YOUrself #112:

Challenge YOUrself #112 opened today, April 7th, and closes on May 4th.  This month's challenge is to create a "Then and Now"  page.  Find a throwback photo (or photos) with you and compare it to a recent photo, then scrap about it!

Here is the page that I made for the challenge:

I wanted to recycle everything on my page, so I started off by using a piece of white watercolor paper that I had from an old tablet.  I cut it to 12 x 12 size.  Next I printed out the 2nd photo of me, my cousin, & my sister from 2022 using old photo paper that I had on hand.  The 1st photo, already printed, was taken in 1960 and was in my mom's photo album.  Again, it's of me, my sister, & my cousin.  (We have remained good friends for all of these years!)  The torn pink paper is from a pack of construction paper that my mom gave to me when she retired from teaching.  The torn heart paper is from a Pink Paislee collection that I had from a few years ago.  Everything else was taken from my stash, including the paint splats.  I really enjoyed making this page!!

I hope you get a chance to check out Challenge YOUrself this month and play along with us!

I am also linking my page to the April Art Journal Journey Monthly theme!!

April is hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth;  their blog is Altered Book Lover and  they are focusing on ways to save the planet in their journal pages by Recycling, reusing, and repurposing this month.

Elizabeth says:  "Recycle a portion of that beloved birthday or Christmas card, reuse those patterned security envelopes, repurpose those cardboard boxes Amazon is so famous for, or those 512 used tea bags you’ve been hoarding.  Turn them into collage fodder for your art journals.  While you’re at it, let us know what you recycled in your entry, so we can applaud you, too."

How awesome it this?  Thanks so much, Bluebeard and Elizabeth,  and Art Journal Journey for your wonderful inspiration!

And thank YOU for stopping by my blog today!

  2. I love how you added those 2 comparison photos and called your page Old Friends Sharon. What a fun idea and a fun page. I really like how you recycled too. I have lots of paper scraps that were too big to throw out that I am using this month. That heart paper works perfect for your pages theme. Thanks so much for joining us at AJJ for Bleubeard's and Elizabeth's challenge. And happy Easter weekend to you also. hugs-Erika

  5. You did a beautiful job of recycling, Sharon. Using scraps and leftovers to reduce your piles of excess embellishments is a good way to recycle. And, you created a fabulously beautiful scrapbook page, too. It is wonderful the three of you are still best friends. It is a testament to who you are. Thanks so very much for sharing this beauty with us at Art Journal Journey using Bleubeard's and my theme.

  6. Oh, this is lovely!!! I think I´ll call my "little" Brother... To (old) friendships!
And twins! It must be wonderful to have "one"! Do you live close by?
My Brother and I look alike but we are so different it´s a pain at times ;-)

  7. Sharon this really is adorable, how sweet to see you are all so close after all those years. Beautiful to see the photographs included, you have a super memory to remember where and when all those recycled elements came your way. Beautiful layout, the white space brings it all together and gives everything an extra hug.
Wishing you a wonderful creative weekend and a blessed Easter.
    Hugs Tracey xx

  8. I love the thinking behind your choice of page. Two photos, years apart but linked with friendship. What could be better? Nothing.
