A Wonderful World!

Hi everyone!

Autumn in eastern Pennsylvania has been quite the rollercoaster so far.  We kicked things off with rain, followed by a devastating Nor’easter. Thankfully, our town escaped the worst of it. Temperatures have been all over the place, hitting the 80s yesterday! I’m keeping my fingers crossed for cooler weather today. Plus, with all the rain we’ve had lately, I think we’re almost out of the severe drought. That’s definitely a relief.

Today I am sharing a project that I made for Mia's challenge at Art Journal Journey Monthly.

Mia from Craftartista is hosting October, and her theme is “Beautiful World.”

But before I show you my project, I wanted to share a little about Art Journal Journey Monthly:

"Each month, there is a new challenge theme for you to take part in. Our participants are art-journalers, altered book artists, rubber stamp addicts, and mixed media artists from all over the world. You are invited to take part by linking via the Link tool on their site.

Artwork created in an art journal, altered book, on canvas, or loose pages, as well as digital and fabric art of any size, is now acceptable."

Here is my project, a mixed-media art journal scrapbook page:

I really enjoyed putting this page together:
  • I started by giving a 12 x 12 sheet of Mintay cardstock some playful splatters and drips with spray inks.
  • Then, I added pink burlap to both sides of the cardstock.
  • I matted the photo that my friend snapped of me during our recent trip to the Finger Lakes on a torn piece of white, corrugated paper.
  • Next, I fussy-cut and added some embellishments from the Mintay “Cottage Hearts” collection.
  • Finally, I adhered my title. What a fun project!

Thank you so much, Mia, for hosting this month and coming up with such a fabulous theme.

I’ll wrap things up by sharing some photos of my twin sister and me celebrating our 70th birthdays at the Wilbur Mansion in Bethlehem, PA. It’s the first time either of us has been there, and I highly recommend it for its amazing food, wonderful service, and beautiful surroundings. It was a splurge, but you only turn 70 once, right!?

Here's the beautiful exterior:

It was wonderful!  (Oh, and we forgot to take a picture of us with our husbands! Haha!)

**I am also entering this post into Sunday Smiles hosted by Gillena Cox.  You can find her challenge here:  https://myblog-lunchbreak.blogspot.com/2026/10/4044.html

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.

Wishing you a wonderful October! ❤

  1. That's a fabulous page Sharon. Is that pink burlap you used? I love how it looks. And you have to splurge on yourself at 70. So many people don't make it to that age, and so you have to celebrate. It looks like you chose a beautiful place too. And we've had that weird weather too. The nor-easter, 80 degrees yesterday/Friday also, and tonight it's downright chilly. Thanks for joining Mia, have a super weekend, and Happy October to you also.

  7. What a fun entry for Mia's theme at AJJ. That turned out to be a great purchase. And this turned out great. Love the splatters.

Happy 70th birthday to you and your twin sister. I swear, you two don't look a day over 40. Good living, I suspect.

    Happy Sunday Smiles, too.

  8. Happy Birthday to you and your twin sister! You all don't look a day past 40. It looks like you had a glorious time celebrating at the beautiful Wilbur Mansion. As always you did an awesome page for AJJ. The photo, embellishments, and colors made for a perfect composition. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Blessings!

  9. Happy 70th birthday to you and your twin sister! What a wonderful place to splurge! I recently saw the biggest buffet (Shady Grove Smorgasbord?) in Lancaster, and would love to stop there one of these days when I visit family in Philly.
