February 1st is here!

Good morning everyone!  February 1st is here and along with it comes a "heat wave" in our part of the country.  The temps went up into the 30's yesterday and may go into the 40's today!!  I actually played the Beach Boys during my car ride home because it felt so much like summer!  But this may be just a teaser because that more COLD weather and snow are in our forecast for this coming week.  Oh my goodness!!!

Today I would like to share Color Me Scrappy's Challenge #55!

The color scheme is as follows:
I absolutely loved using the pop of orange here!

And here's the sketch:
Isn't it fabulous?

Here's my take:

And some close ups:

My inspiration for this page is from one of the songs that Josh Groban's sang at the concert my sister and I attended entitled "The Prayer."  I made my layout in honor of my mom who has been very sick after falling and breaking her hip just before Christmas.  She has been through so much in the past couple of weeks and I felt that a prayer should be documented for her.  In addition, I used my OLW (One Little Word) for this year, too, which is "Believe."  The amazing photo came from Facebook . . . .  a fellow scrapper, Kelly Klapstein, posted this photo last year when I was taking a photography class about using a sun-flare!  I just love this photograph and had to use it here for my mom!  (Thanks so much, Kelly!  You can check out her super amazing blog HERE.)

And I also want to share some photos of my mom with you:

These were taken before she became a mom:

A photo taken of her when she became a teacher:

She's standing next to my dad here on the boardwalk in Atlantic City:
 Her first car:

Here she is with her brother and my uncle, Joe:

Here she is right after she became a mom for the first time - she's holding my sister, Cathy:

And here she is holding my twin sister and me right after we were born:

A later photo of her taken in Atlantic City on the boardwalk:

She loved to play tennis:

And she loved to take us to the Rose Garden in Allentown, PA!  Here I am with my mom, my twin sister, Karen, and older sister, Cathy.  Such a beautiful place!

Just some photos of my mom from her younger days.  Wasn't she beautiful?  I hope you enjoyed my trip down memory lane as much as I did.

Take care everyone and as always, thank you SO MUCH for stopping by my blog today.

Sharon, the layout is just beautiful with that picture and your words on it. How special and uplifting it is to see. I'm so sorry to hear your mom is having hard times. Breaks my heart when this happens to others, especially the older ones. Prayers and hugs still coming your way dear friend.
Thank you SO MUCH for these lovely pictures, they remind me of my mom and my twin sisters. I love the one of her playing tennis and her car. It's funny to think of our moms as being young once.
Hang in there and take care of yourself too and stay strong for her.
Thank you for the visit, wish I could share pictures again. Still working on trying to fix it. Soon as it's fixed be ready for a photo overload, lol.

I love visiting your blog dear friend, always makes me smile and thankful for knowing you. HUGS!!!

  15. Your post--both the layout and the collection of photos--is a great tribute to your mom. Hope that things will start going better for her soon.

Glad you're having a "heat wave." We are here, too. I was able to go outside with a lighter jacket, instead of my heavy winter jacket. That was exciting. Happy Groundhog's Day! :)
