Merry Christmas!

Good Morning everyone!  Everything is covered with a beautiful blanket of snow this morning.  I love the quiet of the early morning hours.  I can wake up and have some alone time before the hustle and bustle of the day has begun!  Can you feel the quiet?

So beautiful!

Today I would like to share Color Me Scrappy's challenge #52.  Here is the color scheme:

 . . . and the twist:

Scrap about a recipe, cooking, dinner out, baking, anything as long as it highlights FOOD.

Since it is the holiday season, I decided to scrap about a long-time family tradition at Christmas that my mom started when Katie was a little girl.  Baking and decorating gingerbread houses!  We always do this the Sunday before Christmas and look forward to it every year!

Here is my layout:

I used pictures from last year's party and converted them to black and white, using the vintage edit because I thought it went well with the papers that I had in my stash from Cosmo Cricket and Echo Park.  What do you think?  I hope you find some time to participate in the challenge during this busy time of the year!  I think the colors are perfect for this time of the year, too.

What are some of your favorite traditions at Christmas time?  My sister, Karen, and her husband Tim joined us at our home last Saturday to help set up and decorate our tree.  That is another beloved tradition that we always do every year!  Here are some pictures.
Me, Anne, Karen and Tim sporting our Santa hats:

And of course, Kita had to get in on the fun:

Karen, Anne, Me and John:

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care:

And finally, Karen always helps us put our train tracks together and get the Polar Express on the tracks correctly.  Karen just has a special knack for it and we are happy for her help!  She bought the set for us right after the movie "The Polar Express" came out and we have loved having it as part of our Christmas tree ever since.

All Aboard:

Our decorated tree:

We are most definitely in the Christmas spirit at our house now and hope you are, too!  We missed Katie, but she is coming home this Friday and we couldn't be happier!

Merry Christmas everyone!  May God bless you all during this wonderful holiday season.

And as always, thank you so much for visiting my blog today.
