Book of Days Week 1 . . . Summer of Color Week 4!

Ever since I took the art journaling class, "Mixed Emotions" back in February of this year,  I have been wanting to take another class!  I am very happy that one of my good friends from blog-land, Michelle LaPoint Rydell, pointed me in the right direction!  Her blog, Inspiration Everywhere, is so full of her wonderful creativity and she was one of the "Mixed Emotions" teachers!  I asked her for her advice about classes, and she highly recommended Effy Wild's Book of Days classes.  So here it is and I am taking my first Book of Days classes!  YAY!!!!

The first lesson is all about using stencils and creating an "intention" page for your art journal.  Here are my very first art journal "Book of Days" pages,  made using butterfly stencils that I had on hand:

My second page was also made with a stencil (Prima) and is all about using a resist technique with gel medium:

I have a lot of changes going on in my life right now, especially with my job.  I expressed this using a photo that I recently took, and the lyrics of a Tim McGraw song entitled "Things Change."

Also, for my above page, I used the colors from this week's Summer of Color challenge:

Week 4's colors:
Charcoal Grey & Pale Pink

Thank you so much, Kristen, for giving me the inspiration to use these colors!!!!

And I know already that I am going to love my "Book of Days" journey!
Thank you, Michelle, for the nudge to take this class!

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far!  It is going to be a hot and humid day here in eastern Pennsylvania!  Yes, the Summer is definitely here:
and I am so happy that the sun is shining right now.  Things are looking up!  (I love these stickers made by Susan Branch!)

And as always, I want to thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog today!
I will leave you with another of my favorite summer images painted by Susan Branch:

  13. Hello Sharon, I'm soooooo happy to see this post today!! Way to go getting on the art journal wagon again, SOOOO HAPPY!!

What a great first 2 pages in your BOD, soooo awesome to see this. I love the stencil on the first one, so pretty.

The second one is beautiful with the photo and lots of pinks, this weeks colors were so fun. Great job on getting the colors to work in your BOD.

I will keep you in my prayers and hope the change goes well for you, can't remember if you mentioned it and I missed it. Take it one day at a time though and remember how STRONG YOU ARE!!

It is finally hot here again too, we cleaned out the garage, uuuugggg hate that job. Looks better for now and will do more later. We are doing our first "real" fireworks in the backyard tonight with yummy smores too. Should be fun, wish us luck we don't burn down the yard/house, haha.

Wonder what the colors will be for next week, sad there is only 2 weeks left. Have a great weekend and see you next week for SOC/BOD again, SOOOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU!! HUGS!
