Two new layouts to share!

The first one I made with photos from Anne's 9th birthday party.  It is still so mind-boggling to me that she is NINE already.  She is growing up very, very quickly!  And growing very tall, too!

Here is my layout:

I used mostly Echo Park papers for this page from my stash - a combination of the "for the record" and "country drive" collections.  I just love her big smile!  She was so happy that day - and to share it with her cousins, aunts and uncles, and grandmothers made it extra special!

My second page is made for a challenge going on at Scraps of Darkness.  Here it is:

I love to blog hop and found the story of the 2 Wolves on Shawn's blog yesterday. I absolutely LOVE this story and asked her if she minded if I use it on my layout. She said "no" and that she will probably use it for a layout, too. I can't wait to see hers. Thank you, Shawn (aka micupoftea at scrapbook.com), for the inspiration. You can find the story on her blog Poetry in a Pot of Tea! Go check it out!!

I made this page for the challenge at Scraps of Darkness. It is a new challenge started this month, the "Dr. Darkness Interpretation Challenge." Melinda's husband, who is a real doctor; hence the name: "Dr, Darkness;" is going to be the judge. This month's theme uses the word "fade." The challenge involves using different mediums and a colors. I used canvas, mists, ink, paint, broken glass(provided in the January kit), notebook paper, and an iron-on for my page. (I also used Drycha's tutorial for my TH charm - check it out at SOD!) And I found the beautiful photo of the two wolves on the web.

My interpretation of the word, fade, involves the story of the 2 Wolves:

One evening an old man told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "my son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all."
"One is Evil - it is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego . . . "
"The other is Good - It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which one wins?”
The old man simply replied, “The one you feed.”
I added, "Remember, the rest fades away"

Thank you, Melinda, for always having such thought provoking and wonderful challenges at SOD! Thank you Drycha, for the tutorial.
And sending a GREAT BIG thank you to Shawn, for providing this amazing story on her blog!

  4. How funny is this?!!!! I was the one who sent the email about the wolves to Shawn and she put it on her blog!!!!! The interesting thing is that this particular email has been responsible for more responses than any others in a long time. You did such a BEAUTIFUL job of SBing it, Sharon!!! How inspirational! 11. Sharon, go ahead and try to post your layout in the gallery again. I'm not sure this was your problem, but sometimes if the file size is too large, it will crash. I usually make sure the file I'm trying to upload is no larger than 1200 by 1200 px in the Jpeg format. I usually upload directly from my computer as well. I hope this helps. Let me know if for some reason you still can't get it posted. ~ Blessings

  12. Sharon, Somehow I missed that the deadline for the Get Your Game On project entries isn't until Feb 12, so you have plenty of time to get your layout up in the gallery. The deadline for the hop itself was last night, but there's still time to finish and post entries. Somehow I missed that. Being on the DT, you'd think I'd know - LOL!!

  13. Sharon I see you haven't been able to get your project into the gallery yet. Did you try reducing your photo resolution? If you want, send me an e-mail and I'll see what I can do to help. My email is Garden Of Grace at juno dot com - no spaces and of course symbols for at and dot. If you shoot me an email, please leave a message on my blog. I don't always check that email account every day, but it's the one I give out on-line. We'll get you up in the gallery and once you get it figured out, it's pretty easy. I think it's easier than scrapbook.com, but I do have to reduce my photo resolution. I'll be gone most of the day, so won't be able to get back to you until tonight if you send me an email. I've been praying for your mom, and was wondering how she's doing. :-)
