I am taking Marit's and Michelle's mixed media and art journaling workshop entitled
Mixed Emotions.
It just stared this past Monday, February 4th, 2013, and I was so excited and a little nervous about joining this class.I had the pleasure to work on my very first lesson last night using the inspiration word:
Courage!
Our first lesson was taught by Michelle LaPoint Rydell.
(I met her through Scrapping the Music!)
(I met her through Scrapping the Music!)
And for even more "inspiration," have a look through the rest of her
creative blog entitled Inspiration Everywhere!!!
Here is my first page made for this workshop. Keep in mind, I never painted
my own letters or used Gesso before.
my own letters or used Gesso before.
Whoohoo! It was invigorating!
I wrote my journaling on regular note-book paper and adhered it to white cardstock. Then, I printed one of my favorite photos on vellum, cut it into strips and adhered it right over my journaling. Last, I painted my inspiration word, COURAGE, with Gesso, then with white acrylic paint over top, all the time keeping my letters translucent! I outlined them with my black marker, then decorated each letter with black dots. Finally, I wrote my quote around the outside of my page.
I even got some wonderful feedback from Anne who said: "Hey mom, this is different from anything else that you have made - I love it!" She even asked me to help her with her next student council project. YAY!!!!! Now that's what I call positive feedback!

Hi Sharon,
ReplyDeletefirst let me tell you that I really love your page ! Wonderful work !!!
Then let me tell you I really appreciated you stopped by on my blog and left a comment. I was really busy during the whole January with the jumpstart of my German forum so I neglected reading blogs, looking at the flickr site, etc. but I miss you and all the other dt members, too.
Hi Sharon, you've done a great job on this one, it's awesome!! And what a story you tell; it takes a lot of courage to tell about your fight with cancer too...
