Hurricane Irene

It is hard to believe that just last weekend
we were partying by the pool in our backyard!
We really enjoyed the company of our friends and family:
Steve, Barb, Jimmy, Jim, Deb, Karen, Tim, Cindy and Tony.
Along with our daughters, Katie and Anne, and our sweet pooch, Kita!
(Kita even enjoyed some of Aunt Karen's taco dip!!)

Yesterday and today we have been watching Hurricane Irene getting ready to hit the east coast.  Here are some of the more formidable pictures that I found on the web:

I feel so lucky not to have been in
Irene's immediate path.
Our home was spared her wrath, for the most part.
Aside from a little water leakage in our basement and at the windows, we are fine.
My sister and her husband were not quite that lucky.  They lost power at 2:00 AM and had trees and branches down in their yard:

Here's our backyard:
and Kita looking a little bit scared:

I am sending out well wishes and prayers to everyone on the east coast of the USA.
Please stay safe.

  1. Good to hear from you! I'm glad the storm wasn't worse in your area- that tree looks scary but at least it didn't land on buildings or people!
    Take care!

  8. Ava and I stranded in Las Vegas-2 flights cancelled due to Miss Irene!!! Well, would rather be on the ground, pool,in a/c with friends then In the air during a storm!!!! tomorrow is my first day back to work--- As of this min-weather permitting we are scheduled to leave LV Tomorrow at 8 am and arrive in Phila at 11:50 pm -will be a long crazy day of travel-we are getting to Phila via Ft. Lauderdale-obviously, I will be missing my first day back to work!!!! We must be "happening" as you know the saying, "what happens in LV stays in LV"-cause for the past 3 days we have been staying!!!!!! glad to hear you all weathered the storm!!! Too bad Karen had so much damage!!! I hear lots of people on the East Coast still out of power!
