Captured . . . for Challenge YOUrself and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

Hi everyone.  It's April 7th - can you believe it?!

It's time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrself!

Challenge YOUrself #124 opened today:

This month's challenge is What's your favorite animal?  You can interpret the theme any way you like, for instance, you can use a photo of you with your favorite animal, use background paper depicting your favorite animal, use images of your favorite animal, etc!  Just remember to include a photo with YOU in the frame!

Here is the mixed media scrapbook page that I created for the challenge:

I used photos of me with our dog, Abbey, taken on Mother's Day two years ago.  Of course my favorite animal is Abbey!!  She is the light of my life and is always by my side.  The paper and embellishments are all from Vicki Boutin's Print Shop collection.  I love how her matts, embellies, and ephemera are in rectangular form, making this perfect for Valerie's theme at Art Journal Journey this month.

I hope you get a chance to check out  Challenge YOUrself!

I am also linking my page to Art Journal Journey Monthly's theme for April:

This month is hosted by Valerie at Baastelmania.  Her April theme is Geometric Forms. Valerie says "this theme covers anything using one or more of these forms in your art work - circles, squares, triangles, lines, etc. I love them and I hope this challenge will renew your acquaintance with these forms."

As you can see, I used rectangles on my page,  the photos, the matts, and the ephemera are all in rectangular form!

I hope you get a chance to check out the entries from the talented artists that take part in this challenge every month.  And I want to thank Valerie and Art Journal Journey for creating this wonderful challenge.

And thank you so much for stopping by my blog today.   Happy April!

Don't Hate. Meditate. For Challenge YOUrself and Art Journal Journey Monthly!

 Hi everyone. It's February 7th!

That means it's time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrself!

Here's Challenge YOUrself #110:

Challenge YOUrself #110 opened February 7th, and closes on March 4th.  This month's theme is Meditation. This month, they'd like you to create a layout about meditation and or the ways you meditate.  You can make it about meditation for ourselves and our world, it can be about why you enjoy meditation, or simply how you relax and meditate!  It's your choice how you interpret this theme. (And please don't forget to include a photo with YOU on your page.

Here is the project that I made for the challenge:

I used 12 x 12 paper, specifically the flip side of "Typeset" from Vicki Boutin's new Print Shop collection to make my page.  I also used the stamps and stencil from this collection.  I like Challenge YOUrself's theme this month because my hope is find ways to stop hatred and meditation is a good start.

You can check out Challenge YOUrself this month and play along with us.  We'd love to see what you create for the Meditation challenge!

I am also entering my page in the Art Journal Journey Monthly  challenge for February.

This month is hosted by Erika at BioArtGal and her theme is Seeing Red.  I used a red background around my title to help it to stand out and added touches of red (dots) to my page.

Thank you, Erika and AJJ for the inspiration!  And thank YOU for stopping by my blog today!  I wish you all a very happy February!

Celebrate 2022 . . . for Challenge YOUrself and Art Journal Journey!

Hi everyone. Happy New Year!

It's time for a new challenge at Challenge YOUrselfthe first challenge of 2023!

Here's Challenge YOUrself #109:

Challenge YOUrself #109 opened January 7th, and closes on February 4th.  This month's theme is "2022 - the Year in Review!" (And don't forget to include a photo with YOU in the frame!)

Here is the page that I made for the challenge:

I started by using a mixed media background by Vicki Boutin from her Print Shop collection. Next, I thought about favorite experiences that I had throughout 2022 and found photos!  I printed them out and framed them with frames that I had in my stash.  It was fun to do and I found that reflecting on 2022 was wonderful.  What I learned was the best part of the year wasn't so much the experiences, but the people that I experienced them with!  I love them all!!!

I hope you get a chance to check out Challenge YOUrself this month and play along with us.  What a perfect way to remember 2022!

I am also linking my page to the Art Journal Journey Monthly theme for Janauary.

This month is hosted by Mia at Craftartista and her theme is Use a Photo - ANY Photo.  Well, I used lots of photos here, so I hope it qualifies for her challenge!!!

Thank YOU for stopping by my blog today!  I wish you all a very happy and blessed new year!
