Teal Ribbon 5K - 2012

We have participated in the Teal Ribbon 5K ever since it started!  My sister, Karen, made t-shirts for all of us to wear in memory of Cathy, 8 years ago.

Front . . . . . . . . . . . and back!  I love it!!!

Every year so far, the weather has been sunny.  But during our drive down on Sunday, we had quite a storm and were worried that it would rain.  But lo and behold, it cleared up right before the run/walk started.  If you want more information about this event, check here!

Karen, who usually runs, decided to walk with us this year - we had so much fun.  And Anne walked the entire 5K without complaining once!  That was a miracle in and of itself!  Ha-Ha!!!

Here are some pictures that Karen took:

This guy has been there every year!

Anne doesn't look too happy, but at least she did not complain!!!

Katie had a busy week.

And here is one of my favorite pictures:

Have a great Wednesday!

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Hi everyone!  I hope you are having a wonderful holiday weekend.  I always look forward to Memorial day weekend - it marks the beginning of summer!  YAY!  And we get to honor the memory of those who gave their lives for our Country.  I always need to remember that freedom is not free.

Katie was chosen to read the Gettysburg Address on Monday morning in Nazareth.  What an honor!  Here she is:

Also, here is a photo that I would like to share with you of an exciting moment in Katie's life!  It is of Katie and Eve Tannery of Channel 69 news when Katie received the Student Achievement Freddy Award on Thursday night!  She was interviewed by Eve Tannery and presented with the award by Kelly Tuth of the Express Times.  We are so proud and happy that Katie won a paid internship at the Express Times this summer.  She is very excited to start working!

In addition, for all of your scrappers out there, I want to share a layout that I just made with a photo I took at the EPCOT fireworks in Disney World during our most recent vacation there.

I have been trying to use up everything in my stash before buying anything new.  It has not been easy because there are so many new beautiful scrapbook things out there!!  For this page, I used a tree template that I painted white gesso medium on the shiny black paper that came in the packaging.  Then I scanned and enlarged the image of an acrylic stamp that I have - it is a Fancy Pants stamp, one of my favorites!  I punched out the circles and stars on the image after printing it on vellum.  I used it as a template, and painted the yellow "firework" on the background image.  What do you think?  does it add to or distract from the photo?  I still have not made up my mind!

Take care and have fun if you are picnicking!
Sending hugs to you all!

National Tap Dance Day

Anne's little tap dance class (that she participates in at Bushkill BeSafe, her after school program) took part in the National Tap Dance Day recital at Cedar Crest College yesterday.

OK, I admit it . . . . I really did not want to go.  I have been to so many dance recitals in the past and they all seemed to go on and on and on . . . for hours.
Not to mention that I was exhausted after Katie's prom and the invasion of the teenagers at our home on Friday night.

But all I can say is WOW!  I was amazed at the talented tap performers that I saw.  The organization that ran the recital is called "Tap Ties," and they had performers from all across the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia area.

These were the "Shelly Oliver Tap Dancers" dancing to "The Flinstones!"

It was so well organized and each performance was 5 min or under, so it did not go on and on!!!  My husband and I were really surprised and we both enjoyed the show very much.

Here are some pictures of Anne and her group that I would like to share with you:

Her class did an amazing job, and we were so proud of Anne!!!

Now I want to take a tap dance class, too.  Tap Ties offers adult beginners classes this summer.
What do you think?  Should I take this class???

The Senior Prom!

Katie's senior prom happened last night.  I was able to get a half day off work to help her with nails, makeup and hair. (YAY - thanks Maryrose!!) My sister Karen came along, too . . . I was so happy to have her there!

And what a day!

Ryan and his family arrived just after we got home from the hair salon.  Ryan looked so handsome in his tux!

Ryan getting his boutonniere:

The corsage he chose for Katie was beautiful!

Awwwwww - don't they look great?

This is one of my favorite photos - Anne really loves her big sister:

Posing for a photo with me and her Aunt Karen:

And their sisters:

And their parents:

Such gorgeous girls(when did they grow to be beauties?):

Handsome men (when did they grow to be so tall?):
Katie's hair looked so pretty:

Awwwwww(again! There were a lot of them last evening!!) My favorite photo of the two of them!

And off they go . . .

I can tell you that more than just a few tears were shed that evening!

Have a great Saturday everyone.  I have to go check on a house full of teenagers - they stayed here last night and are cooking breakfast as we speak . . .

Katie and Ryan each recieved a gift for being chosen to be on Prom Court:

Scrapping the Music Challenge #199 and the debut of MMD Divas!

Scrapping the Music's Challenge #199 is here!  Hurray!  This week's song is "Golden Years" by David Bowie from the movie "A Night's Tale."
I was really inspired by the lyrics - here is the page I created:

The photo was taken on Anne's 9th birthday!  I hope she will always:  "never look back, walk tall, act fine!"

The second part of the challenge is the prompt that I suggested!  Yep, it was me!!!!!
Do you recall a movie where the music really moved you? Scrap about the music and/or the movie.

There wasn't a doubt in my mind what move I was going to scrap about:  "Two for the Road."

My journaling reads as follows:  One of my favorite actresses is Audrey Hepburn, and one of my favorite movies of hers is "Two for the Road," a movie depicting a couple's relationship over the span of 12 years. I think the reason why I love the movie so much is the amazing, bittersweet, and beautiful musical score by Henry Mancini. The music is what made the movie so perfect for me!

And last but not least, I am now a part of a very creative design team at Heather Landry's blog.
You can check out The Miracles Mommas Divas at Heather's blog here:

She has been creating sketches for years, but has recently asked us to help her scrap her sketches.  YAY!!!!  This is going to be so much fun!  I have already met so many great scrappers there!
Here is sketch #17:

And my layout entitled "Butterflies are free & so are we":

I used photos of the butterfly bush that my twin sister, Karen, and I, planted in memory of my sister, Cathy!  It was a therapeutic layout for me to make!!!!  I love that about scrapping.

Heathers sketches are always so creative!  If you are into digital scrapping, you can download a digi version at her blog, too!

So, why don't you head over to Scrapping the Music and check out this week's challenges.  You have two to choose from, and two weeks to do them!!!

And check out Miracles Momma Designs's sketches, too!  The design team's layouts are awesome!!!
