Madame Butterfly

I received my very first *Scrap That!* kit in the mail and couldn't wait to make my first layout. All of the enclosed elements are so beautiful and go together perfectly.

I used a photo of Anne taken at my mom's home. She was holding up her bag with all of her Easter Egg hunt "loot" . . . I just loved that big smile on her face!!!

I participated in their blog hop and was totally inspired by all of the wonderful creations that I saw there. I especially loved the way Ivana framed her photo with kit's ribbon, so I tried her idea on my layout. Thanks so much for the inspiration!!

I also had fun experimenting with my butterfly template and some mists that I had on hand in my own stash.

I used another photo of Anne(that I love!) for my second layout made with my first "Scrap That!" kit. It was a school photograph - it really supprised me how beautiful this school photo is - they have gotten quite pretty these days!

Thank you so much for your visit and comments!

Happy Easter!

I took this picture on Easter morning in 2009. I ran out to get a photo of the beautiful sunrise, and got our wash-line in the photo. It sure does look a cross, doesn't it?

Here's wishing you and your family a very Happy Easter!

Katie turns 17 tomorrow!

We celebrated Katie's 17th birthday at our home on Saturday. We just had family and a few friends over, but it was such a wonderful time. Here is the layout I created in honor of Katie's birthday party:

I did a little bit of misting and masking, but the rest are all Cosmo Cricket products!

Two new layouts!

Here are two of my newest layouts, and I want to share them with you today.

The first page, I made for this week's "Scrapping the Music" challenge! This week's song is "Good Days" by Alain Clark. It is such a fun, upbeat song, and brought to mind memories of me on my graduation day. On that day, I was 18 years and really thought I knew it all.

(I was wrong, and I surely made mistakes in my life, but all of those choices, good or bad, led to the person I am today.)

Go check them out and join in the fun! The site is as follows:

The second page was made for this month's steampunk challenge over at scrapbook.com. We were challenged by Celina to create something to do with April showers. Here is my rendition:

The photos were of Katie after her performances in Les Miserables.

More from Les Miserables, Nazareth Area High School's Edition

Just want to share some moments from, and more pictures that my sister and I took during Les Miserables. It was amazing and very obvious that long hours of work and practice went into this high school production. I saw five out of the six performances, and loved every single one!

Mr. DeNora, the director, and Mr. Davis, the principal introducing the show:

All of the staging was fantastic:

Jean Valjean and Javert:

Gavroche:

"Red and Black"

"In My Life"

Eponine dies at the barricade:

Marius and Cosette taking their bow:

After the first performance, Jillian (Eponine) was so happy, that she jumped into Katie's (Mme Thenardier) arms. I missed taking the picture of that inpromptu moment, so Jillian jumped into Katie's arms after every performance. I finally got a photo after the final show!! (even though it was kind of blurry!!)

Pictures taken after the various performances:

And one final jump:

Thanks so much, NAHS Theatre Troupe. All of your hard work and dedication paid off!

Friends

I made this layout with the photos that I took after Katie's high school performance of Les Miserables this past weekend. I wanted to submit my page for two challenges at scrapbook.com: the Darker Side Challenge and the Alternative Challenge. So I distressed, misted, and grunged it up a bit. I also added my favorite dragonfly pin which was a gift from a very good friend, that I accidently let go through the washing machine. I thought it was ruined, but it worked GREAT here!

I love these pictures of katie and her friends. They all look so cute together with their stage make-up and hair.

Break a Leg, Katie!!

Opening night of "Les Miserables" at Nazareth High School was a big success! It seemed like such a huge undertaking for a high school production, but they sure did pull it off.

Katie played the part of Madame Thenardier, the devious inkeeper's wife. Here are some photos of M. and Mme. Thenardier during their opening night performance:

The final scene when Jean Valjean dies, gets me every single time. Pictured here are Marius, Cosette, Fantine, Jean Valjean, & Eponine.

And the finale: "Can You Hear the People Sing?" (gave me chills!)

I can't wait to see it again tonight . . .

4/2/11

They had another awesome performance tonight. Here are some photos taken after the show:

Woah - you should have seen us trying to get a comb through that hair . . . .

Happy Anniversary, John!!

My husband and I just celebrated our 21st anniversary. I can't believe that we have been married that long. It seems like just yesterday . . . We met and married after a blind date and only knowing each other for 2 months - whew! I guess it really was love at first site. And we are still together 21 years later. (But I sure wouldn't want Katie or Anne to do what we did back then. LOL!)

This week at Scrapping the Music, Michelle picked the alternative rock song: "Hanging by a Moment" by Lifehouse. I love, LOVE this song, and had to use a favorite photo from our wedding day for my page:

My second page's photo was taken when we went out for dinner - the waitress brought our cake with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate. So cool!!!

Thank you, Jessica (aka scrapbaby) for the sketch inspiration at the memory lane pa site on Facebook!
